ok i am being picky but you are using mordants. namely iron, rusty water, and tin, from the can, tannin from the leaves and the vinegar. the soybeans are an other excellent mordant! i take soy beans, soak them overnight in water, whirr them in a blender, then squeeze out the liquid. this acts as a fabulous fixative on cotton or silk with natural or synthetic dyes. great results! i am really enjoying your channel

thank you for this experiment. Its absolutly beautyful. Long ago i learned doing this with some naturel product. I was suprised by the lovely paper and coton because i wrapped the bundel with cotonthread. That 1 could use for working with the ecoprinted fabrics and paper....besides that the leaves/flowers of Aquilegia vulgaris give a very beautyful effect. Thank you for sharing

I used to do a lot of eco dyeing and I truly loved it! It was one of the art forms I stumbled across many moons ago that I really felt connected to. But I moved around a little and also co cared for my Dad who was terminal…after he passed, I went through much pain and grief and didn’t do much. and now I’m a bit more settled and it’s been Jan 14 2022 when he passed and I’m a bit better…I am slowly getting back into it. I love your accent and I didn’t know you can do without alum…or a mordant - I’ve got some rust water I made and I have pots, fabrics - silks, cottons, bamboo hemp etc I will try to do this…thank you for sharing!

I wonder how long this takes? I’m making a small coil basket from raffia I learnt at a weaving workshop last Friday - my fingers, hands and wrists get a bit sore when I sit for a while just using simple blanket stitch. I like to tighten my stitches - but raffia is a bit expensive so I was looking up ways to do it frugally or better yet free! I have experimented with fabric scrap fibre and now I see the plastic bag method or denim jeans which one would be heavy and the other lighter - I like both ideas. Now I am super excited to take your technique and so it with a lot of old clothing I have and donated clothing from family to me (for my art and crafting purposes). I plan to make a basket and a basket bag I can use. This is a very good video with beautiful results thank you for posting this tutorial! 😊
